Pediatric Therapy Services
We focus on your child's well-being & growth development through skilled pediatric therapy services!
When it comes to well-being goals, there is no goal too big or small. Our occupational therapist is trained in treatment that no other provider in the region offers.
Each treatment is customized to the needs of the child to maximize your value, time, and results. This allows our therapist to engage families including siblings and parents into the session when appropriate. By including your family, you can take our tips and begin to implement them into your home for maximum results.
Treatment Certifications
We value education, training and the latest research to ensure we are helping your child reach their full-potential. Check out our pediatric occupational therapists’certifications below!
Advanced Practice Specialty Certification in Neuroscience
This was completed through Thomas Jefferson University and provided me advanced knowledge of how the nervous system processes sensory information. By knowing how sensory information is processed, interpreted, and the impact that sensation provided in a certain way can have on the physical, emotional, and cognitive systems, I can better select activities that significantly impact the children I serve.
STAR ProCert 2 Professional Credential in Sensory Processing
Focused on disordered sensory processing, this intensive training focused on the development of advanced clinical reasoning, comprehensive sensory-based assessment, the application of the STAR PROCESS treatment model for intervention, and treatment effectiveness research for disordered Sensory Processing. This is the highest level of certificate that the STAR Institute for Sensory Processing provides and includes college credit and advanced mentorship.
Ayres Sensory Integration Credentialed Clinician
This was a foundational course within my journey. A. Jean Ayres is the founder of sensory integration theory and practice. I had the opportunity within this series of advanced coursework to learn from practitioners and researchers who A. Jean Ayres directly mentored them before her death in 1988. This was a fantastic opportunity to learn about the senses, the neurological constructs involved in sensory integration, how to assess using the then gold standard evaluation measure called the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT), and skillfully treat sensory integration dysfunction. This exact coursework is no longer offered but includes 4 one-week courses and mentorship.
Unyte-iLs Focus System and Safe & Sound Protocol Provider
The Focus System and the Safe & Sound Protocol are two listening programs that Unyte-iLs offers. They incorporate different sound technology and are utilized for various reasons. The Safe & Sound Protocol is highly effective for reducing auditory sensitivities, improving emotional regulation, and enhancing attention. This is often recommended in addition to skilled outpatient occupational therapy intervention.
Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) Provider
Known as the gold standard treatment of tic disorders. It is the most effective when the tic is bothersome to the child and not just the parents or care providers.
DIR Floor time Level 2
Uses a relationship-based approach that is highly effective for children with sensory processing dysfunction, including those with autism. This involves meeting the child at his/her level and joining into a shared experience while skillfully expanding the play-based experience creating a fun and joy. This approach is incorporated into sessions to enhance the internal drive of the child to connect socially, and the therapist becomes the best “toy” in the room. As a result, the child chooses to participate with a person instead of an object.
